I was so excited to meet Tanya and Marc! They won an engagement session with me through the Perfect Wedding Guide‘s 12 month giveaway last year It turns out that Tanya and I are from the same town in New Mexico and she actually went to high school with two of my brothers! Such a small world!!

Anyway, we had so much fun at Lake Las Vegas and I couldn’t have been happier with their images. They are a perfect match

Las Vegas Ghost town portraits – Chris and Maggs!

I cannot even tell you how much fun I had photographing Chris and Maggs. We drove 45 minutes south of Las Vegas to a place called Nelson, and all just so we could have endless antique treasures as our backdrop. Love this place! If you ever want to check it out, the owners are awesome. Just be ready to sign a waiver and see some pretty nasty photos depicting what happens if you fall into a cactus or get bit by a snake out there… scary but worth it!! These two brought along some fun props for the shoot and everything. I love it when a couple does this. It really helps bring out true personality in the photos, and it makes the portraits 100% unique. Maggs and Chris are both huge “football” fans, so they just had to have some portraits with their jerseys on. And nope, these two do not cheer for the same team… they are rivals to the core!! They also brought along some home brew, which is a hobby they thoroughly enjoy together. I swear those bottles of beer were treated like children

Las Vegas Luxury Magazine – Go Red for Women ad

Earlier this month I had the opportunity to photograph the Las Vegas Circle of Red, an elite group of women who have donated their time and resources to the Go Red For Women organization. I’m excited to say that my image is featured in this month’s issue of Luxury Magazine!

The shoot took place in a penthouse at the top of the incredible Trump Hotel. It was pretty awesome up there. If you’ve never been to the Trump Hotel, you are missing out…. one of the best views of the Las Vegas Strip I’ve ever seen!

I ended up shooting two series of photos to get the final image. And then of course some Photoshop magic to finish the job

The first series was lit for the women… and wow do those gold coated windows at Trump make some seriously intense reflections. I knew right away this was definitely going to be a little photoshop project!

Below is the original shot, soc (ISO 500, f/8, 1/60):

After everyone left, I then spent a few minutes getting the shot of the strip. We turned off every single light in the room to avoid the killer reflection of those gold windows Using a tripod, I set my camera at ISO 100, f/5.6 for a 10 second exposure and it worked out great! Introducing Erinn!!

I’m so excited to introduce Erinn to you all! Erinn joined Red Rock Studios on January 1st, 2011 and I couldn’t be more excited to have her as part of our team She is an amazing photographer and fits in here perfectly. Not only is she uber talented with a fabulous personality, but she also loves adventure and outdoor sports. Seriously my kind of girl!

Below Erinn’s headshot is a little introduction she put together. We also have a killer portrait special running through the end of February with Erinn. Check out the details at the bottom of this post!!

My name is Erinn and I was born and raised in Rochester NY. I moved to Las Vegas about 3 years ago. I love to travel, hike, camp, rock climb, snowboard, go four-wheeling and boating. Las Vegas is pretty much the perfect place to live and be able to do all of these things within a short drive! My family here consists of my boyfriend, Isaac, and our 4 dogs! Yes….4! We live a crazy, busy, fun-filled life that I would not trade for anything. For me, life is an adventure that I love to capture in photographs!

I discovered photography at a very young age. At the age of 10, I was posing my younger sister in front of the disposable film cameras for a “portrait session”. When I was 16 years old, I was given my first digital camera as a birthday present. That was the beginning of my passion for capture life through the lens of a camera! I then found myself taking hundreds of pictures as often as I could. In high school I started my 2-year photography education at a technical career school, learning every aspect of film and digital photography. Two years after high school, I decided to begin college at Mohawk Valley in Utica NY. One year later I visited Las Vegas for summer break and never left! I enrolled in commercial photography at College of Southern Nevada, and discovered a love for photographing people. Being able to capture the moment and re-living the happiest times in people’s lives is the most rewarding job in the world. Even now, after hundreds of weddings and hundreds of engagement shoots, I am still excited as ever to see the pictures that I just created! As I continue to grow as a photographer I look for more fun, creative, unique ways to capture the perfect pictures that will provide enjoyment to all who look at them. As they say, “A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words”!

Las Vegas Newborn Photographer – Introducing baby Ezra!

This past weekend I was able to meet my brand new nephew, Mr. Ezra

We took a quick roadtrip from Las Vegas up to Utah just to meet the special little guy. And actually… little is probably the wrong word choice. Ezra was only a couple of ounces shy of 10 pounds. Nope… that was not a typo… 10 pounds!! To this day I cannot figure out how my petite little sister carries her big boys!!

Congratulations again sis. He is the perfect addition to your beautiful family!

For the first time ever, I signed up for a photography workshop… and I am loving it!! I made the quick and easy drive to California from Las Vegas to attend a two day workshop with Mike Larson. And it has been fabulous!! I would highly recommend attending Mike Larson’s workshops to any of my phot0g friends. Totally worth it.

Jeff and Whitney, newlywed session!!

Loved these two!! They are super playful together, which is the best ever

Jeff and Whitney recently tied the knot in Las Vegas with their closest friends and family as witnesses, so this session was actually an after-the-wedding engagement shoot… if that is possible! And after hearing a little bit about their big plans for a wedding celebration in Hawaii, it totally makes sense to me!

Thank you again Jeff and Whitney for asking me to photograph your newlywed shoot. I had such a blast and I couldn’t be happier for you both

Ghost town engagements :)

Shannon and Ryan’s engagement session was a blast!! We drove down to Nelson, NV which is maybe 40 minutes south of Las Vegas… and totally worth the drive. I could probably shoot there dozens of times and always find a new backdrop. It is such a great place These two are non-stop smiles and so much fun to photograph. I am so excited for their wedding next year!!

A Portrait Palooza to benefit Savannah Grace :)

The power of a community is unparalleled…. and the photography community in Las Vegas is beyond powerful!

What started as a simple idea has now grown into an incredible event. It is truly amazing to see what can be accomplished when a community unites for a cause

I am so proud to announce this exciting Portrait Palooza!! Photographers in Las Vegas are aiming to raise atleast $10,000 for Savannah Grace Lighten, and we need your help!

Savannah Grace Lighten was born September 19th, 2010 with severe brain damage. Her parents Terrence and Suzi Lighten are members of the Las Vegas photography community, and are two of the most kindhearted and giving people I have ever met. Please visit Savannah’s Journey to learn more about her heartbreaking story. And a word of caution… if you are a mother, make sure a box of tissues is nearby when you read Suzi’s first blog entry

The Lighten family has hopes that a treatment called Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy will help Savannah recover from her serious brain injuries, and the Las Vegas photography community wants to see her receive these treatments. Which brings us to the grand Portrait Palooza!!

Now for some details….

Who: 20-30 of Las Vegas’ finest professional photographers

What: 100 families donating $100 towards a private portrait session (details coming soon on what will be included with the donation!). Just in time for the holidays too! Greeting cards anyone?!?!

When: Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 19, 20, 21, appointments will be available from 10:00am to 5:00pm.

Where: HENDERSON – Sunset Park, Henderson, NV, picnic area “D” right next to the pool (Nov 19, and 20th)

SUMMERLIN – JW Marriott (Sunday, Nov. 21st)

Maternity session, with big brother!!

Last month my sister stopped by my place in Las Vegas for some maternity portraits She is due in January with her second little boy, whom I cannot wait to meet!

We both seriously owe this shot to uncle Vance (my hubby), because he totally saved the day! At the very beginning of our photoshoot, Blake clocked his head wicked hard on the corner of the wood bed frame. After all the tears and pain, I thought for sure our chances for some cute maternity shots with big brother were over. Nothing we did for the little guy would console him :’(

Luckily, I thought to ask my husband if he would take Blake on a stroll outside for a few minutes to see if he would cheer up. Well, lets just say Blake loves to be with his uncle Vance because it worked like a charm! After maybe 15 minutes, Vance delivered us the cheerful little boy we all know and love… and I quickly snapped this shot!! Love him

Alright… the title is misleading. Even though he just turned two, this little guy has never displayed any type of “terrible two” behavior…. never. And yes, he is my nephew but I’m definitely not defensive or biased He’s just so flipping cute I would probably never notice anyway, lol.

My family and I spent a week in Yellowstone National Park as our last escape of the summer, and let me tell you… it was fabulous to get out of the Las Vegas heat for a couple of weeks. My sister and her family joined us and we had the time of our lives! While we were there, I figured there could not be a better place on earth for my super handsome nephew to have his two year old portraits taken. Incredible scenery, plenty-0-dirt and countless wild and dangerous animals. Perfection if you ask me

Rebekah and Austen were so cute during their engagement session!! They are absolutely perfect together

Poor Austen was feeling pretty sick that day, but he was a trooper and pulled through all the way to the end! He even convinced Rebekah to join him on the edge of a cliff for a shot, helping her look relaxed through it all. And let me tell you… that was no small feat I wish you both the most beautiful future together and I can’t wait for your wedding next month!!

Super news today! My fabulous printer is offering a brand new card collection for 2010, just in time for the holidays.

Check out the image below to see the new shapes they’re offering. And as always, any custom design is still possible! But these new shapes are so fancy, I’m absolutely in love!! I think I’ll be sending out the scalloped square. Or maybe a circle. But the ornate one is so elegant. Hmmmm, maybe this isn’t such a good thing… now I’ll never be able to make a decision because they’re all so fab… sigh

Jen and Dave’s engagement session at Mt. Charleston could not have been more perfect! Dave proposed to Jen at Mt. Charleston, during a romantic weekend they spent together at the lodge. Photographing two people at a place that is so special them was simply priceless. I loved watching them reminisce and capturing each beautiful moment they shared. Earlier this summer, I met up with Jeff and Sarah for their engagement session at Freemont Street in Las Vegas. We had so much fun at all the historic spots to shoot, and these two just couldn’t stop smiling. Talk about a super-fun session!! Of course we were all suffering through the heat, lol, but I don’t think you can tell one bit. Summers in Las Vegas might be hot, but we can still rock a portrait session through it all

Below is the design we just finished for their guest book, a non-traditional version of a “sign in” book.

Las Vegas’ 20th Anniversary Candelighters 5K!!

Yesterday I was honored to support the 20th anniversary 5K and 1 mile walk for the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada. I cannot say enough amazing things about this incredible organization! These beautiful children and their families are such an inspiration to me. Despite the heartbreaking adversity they face, I see families filled with hope, courage and joy. It is truly remarkable.

I’m also so proud to say that our Las Vegas community came out in full force to support this worthy cause. There were over 2,000 participants and more than $150,000 was raised. Las Vegas rocks, and cancer… you suck!!!

Engagement session on Freemont Street, Las Vegas!

Nathan and Natalie knew exactly what they wanted for their engagement portraits! Historic Freemont Street in the early evening… and they totally rocked it Both of them are also huge fans of black and white and sepia images. After processing their selections for them, I personally fell in love with their session in sepia. So sepia it is!! Hope you enjoy
