Craig and Raquel – my sister-in-law

Raquel is one of Vance’s younger sisters – he has three total. Each of them are awesome and so fun to be around. We are so excited that Raquel has found such a wonderful guy.

Ironically, this guy has never been too far from her. They just both had to move to Utah to meet each other.

Craig and Raquel grew up around the same town in the Bay Area. They new the same people. Vance and most of his siblings were familiar with Craig – he’s such a friendly guy. Craig even used to come over and fix Raquel’s dad’s computer. However, Raquel and Craig moved in different social circles.

Raquel did spend a lot of time with Craig’s younger brother. They went to church, school and work together. Raquel said that Craig actually danced with her at her first dance when she was 14. She claims she was too young and mousy for him to notice (I doubt that – the mousy part, anyway).

Then Raquel moved to Utah for college – the same school Craig was attending. One night, she was hanging out with a friend who was dating one of Craig’s friends. Craig showed up, because he’d heard their was a Miller in the house. Us Millers – we’re fun people. He left 20 minutes later with Raquel’s number, but she didn’t think much of it. She thought he just wanted to hang out with a Miller.

And he did – but not just any Miller. He wanted the Miller with that sassy look and sexy yellow shoes.

Craig invited her out two days in a row – both days Raquel was busy and turned him down. She felt bad about it, so she invited him out to play games with friends. They had fun, but she said things didn’t go well so she figured he wouldn’t call again. Oh, how wrong she was. They bumped into each other later on and went out swing dancing. The rest is history!

Craig proposed to Raquel on a mountain with a view of the LDS Temple in Provo. It was one of their favorite spots to visit together. They will be married this Friday, August 14. One more thing – Raquel told me her family let her know that they’ll disown her if she messes this one up. I don’t think they have to worry about that – they are a great couple. Congratulations!
