Raquel and Craig’s pre-wedding session

I asked my sister-in-law, Raquel, and her fiance (now husband) if they wanted to defy tradition and dress up for pictures a few days before the wedding. Their answer – “We don’t care about tradition.”

Thank goodness! The advantage of shooting the bride and groom before the wedding is less stress and more fun. There are no well-intentioned wedding guests stepping in the shot to congratulate the couple. No crazy schedule to adhere to. No last minute stress over missing garters.

There is still much to do – but the couple is able to relax more in an early session. Raquel and Craig stole away for an hour two days prior to their wedding. We met on the Oakland Temple grounds, where they were married 2 days later. Vance, his sister Rachael and her husband Jeremy came along to join in on the fun.

It was only an hour, but I’m very happy with what we got. I would recommend scheduling photography before the wedding to all wedding photographers. Below are a few more images.

I shared a few more tips for alleviating wedding photography stress on my Tips and Tricks blog. Let me know what you think and feel free to share any of your own advice.
